New Fashion Designs

I decided to produce some fashion designs for my Online portfolio in the hope of securing a job within design. My designs were inspired by current trends including stripes, watercolours, painterly floral patterns and textures. Here are some examples of my work, more of which can be found on my Flickr
account. I really like the textural background of the design below. I think the colours are suitable for spring/summer 2015.

I really like the bold colours in the design above and I think it works best at a large scale.

I experimented with different widths and colours to see what effects this would have on my designs. My favourite stripe design is the one above because I love the mix of colour and the composition.

The six product illustrations below accompany my final project concerning Colour, Pattern and Texture in Nature. The illustrations show my four wallpaper and six bedding designs and how they work as a collection.

Colour, Pattern and Texture in Nature Collection Two

The second collection focuses on the use of textures such as marbled paper. The two wallpaper designs complement the three bedding designs, therefore the five designs fit as a collection but they are also strong enough to be considered as individual designs.

Colour, Pattern and Texture in Nature collection one

This is the first collection of wallpaper and bedding designs surrounding the theme of Colour, Pattern and Texture in Nature. This collection focuses on colour and the use of trails which help guide the viewer's eye across the page. The five designs work well as a collection but each one is capable of standing alone. The designs are intended for a young female adult.

Colour, pattern and texture in nature

Below are some design developments based on the theme of colour, pattern and texture in nature. I am designing for both bedding and wallpaper suitable for a young female adult. Brightly coloured flowers were my main source of inspiration but reptiles and insects also influenced my designs. A recent trip to Tropical World provided sources of visual information which are reflected in my designs.

Repeat patterns and detailed drawings

The two drawings below are from my first project of detailed plant drawings. They show experimentation with tone and texture. I really enjoyed this project as it allowed me to develop my own drawing style and experiment with different media.

The next step was to develop these drawings into repeat patterns. This enabled me to experiment with scale and placement of motifs with the aim of creating a visually appealing outcome. The following designs all have different qualities such as tone, contrast and leading lines. Overall I am happy with the outcome of both projects as I feel they are visually appealing and have enabled me to vastly improve my drawing skills.
